Calm (ปกแข็ง)

    Calm, a 2010 IBBY honor list book, by Cheewan Wisasa, draws on the philosophy of mindfulness to help children use their superpower to understand and manage their feelings – especially when facing challenges.

    The story is told through the adventures of the eponymous Calm, opening with Calm traversing a vast ocean, with no land in sight. What challenges lurk? How will Calm cope?

    Calm took 2 years to finish because Cheewan sought to create an original character children could relate to, learn from, and view without preconception or prejudice, resulting in Calm’s top-heavy marshmallow-like androgenous form – showing the importance of mindfulness and the difficulty of finding balance.
